Douglas A. Bordner focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, business and corporate transactions, and estate planning. With over 30 years of experience, he has an “AV” peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can receive. His practice experience includes representation of developers, architectural firms, engineering firms, and investors in various aspects of real estate, including construction, real estate financing, environmental matters, acquisition and sale of undeveloped and developed real estate, commercial development, acquisition of office buildings, apartment buildings, and commercial and industrial office leases. He also has extensive experience advising and representing clients in the formation of corporations, nonprofit corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, limited partnerships, and joint ventures. His estate planning practice encompasses succession planning, wills and trusts for individual and business clients.
Mr. Bordner has managed a multitude of multi-million dollar business acquisitions and mergers, including one of the largest mergers of two architectural firms in Los Angeles, and his client representation runs the gamut from entrepreneurs to large, privately held corporations throughout California. He regularly represents corporations as outside general counsel advising them on day-to-day legal matters, including business contracts, and labor and employment matters.
He has also prosecuted trademarks before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as represented software companies with negotiating and drafting of international software licensing and distribution agreements in Europe, Asia, Pacific Rim Countries, and South America. Mr. Bordner is admitted to practice law in California and the District of Columbia.
In 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Mr. Bordner was selected as a member of “Who’s Who in Professional Services” by the Pacific Coast Business Times.
He received his undergraduate degree in Economics with a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Davis in 1987, and his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1991.
He is a member of the Moorpark Morning Rotary Club, is the past president of the Calabasas Rotary Club.
